Fantasy Friday: Off To Grandma's House We Go

It's Fantasy Friday! Being that it was Halloween yesterday, I wanted to create an image inspired by dressing up and scary fairy tales. This is of course Little Red Riding Hood (ok, more like Little Red Riding Cape). Little M and "grandma" are taking a nice shortcut thru the woods. I found this great spooky forest image to use as the background thanks to AndokaStock on deviantart.com.

Each year, we've always gone to grandma's house for trick or treating however this year, we decided to stay in our neighborhood. It was so much fun to see all the house decked out with creepy crawlies, ghosts and goblins. We never decorate (for Halloween or Christmas) but now I'm thinking of putting more effort to it next year. I'd love to also put on a haunted house maze for the kids. I remember doing that as a kid and inviting my friends to come check it out. It was basically sheets draped around chairs & lights then me popping out with a scare which usually got them jumping.

Anyways, back to the outfit...I'm wearing a vintage 70's silk chiffon dress thrifted in LA. Initially I was reluctant to purchase it cause it was more of an expensive piece than I usually pay but I changed my mind thanks to my shopping partner in crime, Jill. It's now one of my favorite vintage pieces. I just love the fall color print. There's beautiful smocking at the neck and cuffs and of course anything silk always melts my heart. There's two labels inside which is odd. One says Treacy Lowe and the other Fredericks & Nelson. A google search for Treacy Lowe comes up with similar dresses in different patterns as mine. Nude suede shoes are Pour La Victoire and gold/ black belt were thrifted from vv boutique. M is wearing a red cape from Joe Fresh.
